The University of Huddersfield’s new Chancellor, the Duke of York, was in town today.

He is presiding over the first of the week’s graduation ceremonies at the University.

Former students of the School of Education and Professional Development will receive their awards from High Royal Highness in ceremonies at St Paul’s Hall.

The Duke of York has been a regular visitor to the University over many years and more recently has been involved in a considerable number of projects of mutual interest in connection with the University and his work in the encouragement of young entrepreneurship, which is so key to the UK’s future prosperity.

The University opened The Duke of York Young Entrepreneur Centre in 2013 where there is a team of business advisors. The Centre also hosts The Duke of York Young Entrepreneur Awards designed to recognise the best business ideas developed by students at Yorkshire’s universities.

The Duke of York took over the role as University Chancellor in July this year, when Sir Patrick Stewart stood down.
