TRAIN operator East Coast is running extra services this weekend to help people heading home for the Christmas break.

The additional trains linking Scotland, Yorkshire and London will complement the firm’s existing 101 services on Saturdays and 103 services on Sundays.

Two additional services will run from London King’s Cross to Edinburgh today with one extra service running from Scotland to London.

Tomorrow, Sunday, an extra service will run from London to Edinburgh while an additional service will run from Edinburgh to London.

Passengers holding any ticket valid for travel on East Coast will be able to use these services. Reservations will not apply to these additional services.

East Coast commercial and customer service director Peter Williams said: “Our trains will be very busy during the run-up to Christmas and after the New Year celebrations as people across the route travel home or on holiday by train.”
