HEALTH chiefs are warning people to be prepared in case they fall ill this Easter.
GP surgeries will be closed for four days.
But health bosses are appealing to people not to clog up hospital casualty departments.
They urge people with minor illnesses to visit their chemist or ring NHS Direct.
Mark Jenkins, of North Kirklees Primary Care Trust, said: "We would ask all patients to think carefully before visiting the accident and emergency department over the Easter bank holiday.
"The departments are there to deal with serious injuries and provide emergency treatment."
Ambulances should also be used only in emergencies, he added.
Mr Jenkins urged people who take prescribed medicines to make sure they are well stocked for the weekend.
The NHS Direct number is 0845 46 47.
