YOUNG patients had a brighter Easter when they received sweet treats.

The youngsters on the children’s ward at Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax were handed bagfuls of Easter eggs.

The chocolate treats were donated by Halifax holidaymakers.

Staff at the town’s Co-op Travel branch spent weeks collecting eggs for the children.

Lindsey Greenwood, from the store, said: “We did something similar at Christmas and we thought it would be great to do something again to cheer up the children at Easter.”

Rebecca Pickering, play specialist on the ward, said the children were delighted with their presents.

She said: “This was a lovely gesture by Co-op Travel and I would like to thank them on behalf of the children.”
