SITTING in a bath of mushy peas isn’t a typical job for a headteacher.

But one took part in the challenge for 30 minutes to raise money for her school’s environment project.

The children at Castle Hill School lined-up to pour mushy peas over headteacher Gill Robinson.

Mrs Robinson wanted to support the sixth form in their attempt to create an environment garden.

So she sat in the bath filled to the brim of mushy peas to raise funds for the project at the Newsome Road South school.

Gillian Messenger, PA to Mrs Robinson, said: “She’ll do anything for the school and to have fun.

“The children have really enjoyed pouring their tins of peas over her and think she is wonderful for doing it, although she did get one of them back when she shook hands with him and covered him in peas too.”

A pupil from each of the school’s 13 classes got the chance to empty the peas over her then watched on as she had to sit in the bath until the end of the school day.

The school is still collecting sponsorship but were thrilled with one donation of £50 towards the fund.
