A man aged 88 needed hospital treatment after a crash on the roundabout outside the Asda store at Brackenhall.

Police and ambulance crews were sent to Bradford Road at just after noon after a collision between the man’s Volkswagen Polo and a Peugeot 207.

Traffic slowed around the emergency vehicles but the incident did not cause delays for drivers along Bradford Road, which has a 40mph speed limit.

The roundabout is often busy due to traffic along Bradford Road and shoppers coming out of and turning into the Asda car park.

A police spokesman said the elderly man was believed to have suffered a slight head injury and was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for treatment.

His passenger, a woman aged 77, also suffered slight injuries. It is not known if anyone in the Peugeot was hurt.
