A MAN in his 50s was taken to hospital after a fire started while he was asleep.
Firefighters from Holmfirth and Meltham were called to Longley Lane in Hade Edge at about 10.45pm on Wednesday. The fire, in the lounge of a farm cottage, is thought to have been started by an electrical fault with a plug-in heater. Crews spent about 90 minutes dealing with the incident. The man was given oxygen before being taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for treatment.
