WORSHIPPERS have marked the centenary of their church’s consecration.

More than 100 people gathered for a special service at All Saints in Elland.

Fr David Burrows said: “It’s not the 100th anniversary of the church, because it opened nine years before it was consecrated.

“The church was built in 1903 but it took nine years to clear the debts before the bishop came to consecrate the church.

“Shortly after that, our forebears started building extra bits of the church.”

Worshippers from St Mary’s Church in Elland attended the celebration Mass, as did former All Saints rector Fr John Gore.

“It was a fitting do to mark a significant occasion,” said Fr Burrows.
