A man has this afternoon - Thursday -been cleared by a jury of raping a drunken woman.

A jury took less than two hours to acquit Adam Brown.

Mr Brown, 23, was alleged to have raped the woman after she had been sick on a night out and he had taken her back to a friend’s home.

But after three days of evidence at Bradford Crown court, jurors spent only two hours considering their verdict.

The judge freed Brown from the court.

Earlier this week Brown, of Buttershaw Road, Bradford, told the jury he was shocked when the complainant, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, stopped him having sex with her on a makeshift bed on the floor.

Brown, who was employed as a supervisor at the Elland branch of the Bradford-based supermarket chain, said the woman had given a him a “tight cuddle” before he kissed her on the lips, neck and breasts.

The prosecution had alleged that the woman was drunk after sharing three bottles of wine with a friend and consuming a couple of shots.
