AN Elland pub has been refused permission to sell alcohol for longer hours.
Councillors yesterday said the Savile Arms in Elland could not sell alcohol until 1am after an application to vary the licence. But the Southgate pub can now play music until midnight on Friday and Saturdays, an hour longer than previously. Landlord Tracey Broadley had hoped for a licence for live music from 8pm until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and to be able to play recorded music until 1am. Seven people wrote to Calderdale Council opposing the application.
