AN Almondbury man has returned home after two years on a religious mission.

Adam Wain, 21, has been travelling in France on a mission for The Mormon Church.

He travelled to missions in Paris, Blois in Normandy, Melun and the Loire Valley.

His tasks included teaching the church's gospel and English classes at chapels and working for Red Cross charity shops for six months.

As well as working with French people, he also taught Russian, African and Romanian people who he met at the French missions.

Adam volunteered for the missionary work and paid for the journey himself.

He now plans to go to university to take studies which build on his now-fluent French.

His experiences inspired his 18-year- old brother, Luke, who has just submitted an application to do missionary work.

He plans to leave on his journey on his 19th birthday in August.
