AN ESCAPED sex offender is thought to be in the West Country.
Police said there had been a reported sighting of John McDermott, 45, in the Weymouth area of Dorset yesterday.
He disappeared from a Wakefield bail hostel last Friday.
McDermott is described as dangerous, especially to young children.
Police said several phone calls had been received from people who thought they had seen him and all leads were being followed up.
McDermott is described as 5ft 6in tall, 17 to 18 stones and with a shaved head and glasses.
When he went missing he was wearing a green bomber jacket, black jogging bottoms, a black or bright orange T-shirt, and black and white trainers.
