ALL five defendants in the trial of the death of shopkeeper Gurmail Singh have now given evidence.

Shoaib Khan, 18, was the final of the accused to complete his evidence yesterday.

Khan, of Calton Street, Hillhouse, along with Nabeel Shafi, 18, of Park Hill, Bradley; Rehman Afzal, 18, of Jacinth Court, Fartown: Umare Aslam, 20, of Coniston Avenue, Dalton; Muawaz Khalid, 20, of Blackmoorfoot Road, Crosland Moor are on trial at Bradford Crown Court accused of murder. They deny the charge.

Afzal and Shafi have pleaded guilty to robbery, but that charge is denied by the other three defendants.

Khan has admitted a charge of assisting an offender.

The prosecution and defence for each of the five accused will make their closing speeches to the jury early next week.

The judge is expected to sum up the case around Thursday and Friday, with the jury being sent out to consider their verdicts late next week or early the week after.
