FORMER Examiner columnist and owner of Britain’s Best Home Terry George will once again grace TV screens across the UK on Monday night.

The entrepreneur, who owns a series of businesses in Leeds and memorial website Gone Too Soon, will be featured in a documentary on BBC1.

Terry (pictured) has sponsored Aspire 2 Achieve – a project which aims to get young people into university.

Aside from giving the project a generous £20,000 donation, Terry has been giving speeches to sixth formers visiting Leeds Met and Leeds University.

One-time Secret Millionaire Terry said: “I never went to university and although I have been successful I always wished I had.

“I often surround myself with people who have degrees and I find they have a lot more to offer because they have expertise. Had I gone to university, I would have got that first hand.”

In making the documentary, Terry talked to students and the vice-chancellor of Leeds University.

He said he found students to have mixed feelings about university prospects and found that increased fees were the largest concern.

His involvement within Aspire 2 Achieve, has lead him to take high school students around his home, Carr Hall Castle, Stainland, which was awarded the coveted prize of Britain’s Best Home.

Terry, who grew up on a Leeds council estate, said: “I think the tour allows them to see what hard work can achieve.”

Terry features in Monday’s Inside Out on BBC1 at 7.30pm.
