A FORMER professional rugby league player took his team-building skills to a village school.

Ex-Huddersfield Giants forward Basil Richards is now a motivator with The Powerful Partners scheme.

It shows youngsters how to work together, as well as boosting social skills and enhancing self-esteem.

Richards has just begun a series of visits to pupils at Scissett CE First School.

He is seen (back, left) with project leaders Carol Matthews and Ernie Shackleton.

The scheme is supported by the Children's Fund as part of Government's plans to support people aged between five and 13. With role play, games and workshops, they learn how to better understand and articulate their feelings.
