They have turned out in their hundreds in previous years.

And now the Examiner is launching the 2014 Baby of the Year competition with an invite to all the readers to help us find the next top of the tots in Huddersfield.

Last year hundreds of children were photographed and we received an overwhelming number of votes from our readers to choose their winner. Now we are calling all proud parents to help us find this year’s little star.

Last year’s top tot was Lucas Jennings (above) – the boy who slept his way to glory.

Lucas, who was just 11 weeks old, was asleep when his photo was taken but his look earned him the 2013 title.

He was one of four boys who scooped the awards in the 2013 competition, which attracted 419 entries.

He became the youngest winner since the contest’s gleaming trophy was first awarded 41 years ago, back in 1973.

Take a look at our gallery below of 2014's finalists in all the different age groups.

If you think you have the cutest kid in town, get an entry form from your Examiner today and come along to one of our free photo sessions which are taking place between Monday, August 11 and Saturday, August 23.

They are taking place at Unit 3 in The Piazza Centre. After the photo session, the photographer will give you a date to come back to choose which photograph you would like to enter the competition and to appear in paper.
