NICK, from Elland, lifted the trophy for rising through the ranks to become one of the top amateur players not only in this country but also the world in the highly competitive sport of golf.

The 21-year-old Fixby player is currently ranked as the fourth best amateur in England and number 33 in the world. The highlight of his career so far has been winning the English Amateur Championship.

Now he’s a regular choice for the England men’s elite amateur squad, was part of the winning team which won the European Nations Cup in Spain and has just been named in the 20-strong squad for the Walker Cup (the amateur equivalent of the Ryder Cup), to face the USA at Royal Lytham & St Annes in September.

Nick could not pick up his award in person because he was playing in a golf tournament in Scotland.

* The category was sponsored by Hot Tub World and the runners-up were Saul Muldoon and Amira Mellor.
