YORKSHIRE Schools Exploring Society is celebrating its 40th anniversary and wants former members to get in touch.

An anniversary dinner is being held as part of the celebrations and organisers would love to hear from any past expedition members who have played a part in the society's history.

The society runs expeditions across the globe for young Yorkshire people.

It was formed in 1964 and is now a registered educational charity.

It has run expeditions to 45 destinations, covering a wide range of activities. These have included trekking across deserts with camels, painting a village school, whitewater rafting and climbing in the Himalayas.

The next expedition will take place over July and August when more than 60 young people will take part in expeditions to Kenya and Bolivia.
