UNION representatives will hold a debate on the social reforms of Venezuela.

Huddersfield Trades Union Council is organising a public meeting to pose the question: Venezuela - What's going on?

Main speaker, John Drewery, will deliver an account of his recent experiences in the country. He witnessed the social reforms of President Hugo Chavez's government.

He said: "President Hugo Chavez leads the most progressive government in the world.

"It is carrying out enormous social reforms offering inspiration to all those across the world seeking justice.

He says that the county's aim for social progress is being prevented by the US.

Secretary of Huddersfield TUC, Bob Stoker, said: "Now is the time to show solidarity with the Venezuelan's right to determine their own future."

The meeting will take place tomorrow at 7.30pm in the Town Hall.
