TOWN halls in Dewsbury, Cleckheaton and Batley are being given a facelift.
Batley Town Hall is the first to get a makeover. Work has started on improving its staircase, main hall and foyer ready for its centenary celebrations next year. The work is expected to end in March.
Over the next two years, the toilets, foyers and kitchen areas in Cleckheaton and Dewsbury Town Halls will be redecorated.
Kirklees Council's assistant town hall manager, Sue Wood, said disruption would be kept to a minimum.
"However, during work at Batley, some hirers may have to be moved to other rooms or cancelled and we have contacted those concerned," she said.
The improvement work is a joint project by Kirklees Council's culture and leisure services, design and property services, and building services.
