AN electrical fault is being blamed for a blaze at a Huddersfield factory early today.

Firefighters from Huddersfield, Slaithwaite, Brighouse and Elland went to Country Park Foods on New Hey Road, Oakes, at about 3.20am after workers discovered smoke.

The fire was in a refrigerated part of the four-storey building used for slicing meat. It was inside foam and polystyrene insulation in the wall cavity and ceiling void and was difficult to reach.

It took fire crews three hours to deal with the blaze.

About a quarter of the room was destroyed by the flames, but nobody was injured.
