A MUSLIM councillor today urged people of all faiths in Kirklees to work together in the aftermath of the terror attacks.

Batley West Labour councillor Shabir Pandor expressed his deepest sympathy at the death and suffering of innocent people, their families and friends in the London bombings.

He said: "I condemn these criminal attacks in the strongest possible terms.

"Use of terror in such a manner on innocent victims can serve no purpose.

"The traditions and teachings of both Muslim and Christians do not promote the use of violence.

"It is completely against the faith communities' practice and teaching to justify any crime or harm on humanity".

"I will look towards all community leaders to promote and show wisdom, tolerance and compassion.

"The events that have unfolded before us have challenged everyone and we can only reinforce our message to work together to understand our differences and share common values.

"We have achieved a lot together and cannot and will not let extremist views undermine the progress we are making."
