A FAMILY fun day is taking place in Salendine Nook this weekend.

There will be everything from a fun fair and children’s Olympics to live music and a beer tent at Sunday’s event on the high school playing fields.

It will raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

It follows on from a charity fundraiser last month where four people sat in a bath of beans.

Simon Cottrell, one of the organisers, said: “We want to raise awareness of the charity and raise as much as we can.

“This is the biggest event we’ve done and we’ve been handing leaflets out and collecting donations non-stop and we’re amazed how much support we’ve had.

“It has been really good.”

In May Zoe Tyler, 20, and Alicia Lever, 19, sat in a bath tub of cold beans outside Snowy’s Bar on Manchester Road, Longroyd Bridge junction.

Zoe and her mum Laura, of Longwood, organised the event to support a charity that helped their family.

The family fun day runs from midday to 5pm on Sunday and there are food stalls, bouncy castles, a football tournament, tug of war competition, balloon race and tombola.

All are welcome to attend and support the worthy cause.
