SIR Elton John fans have started snapping up their tickets for this summer's big concert.

This morning fans of the megastar began queuing to secure their place at the Galpharm on June 3.

But there was confusion for others who tried to book their tickets through ticket agencies.

Some were wrongly told the concert was on June 4.

Kevin White, of agency Ticketmaster, said: "Details of the show came through to us and other agencies with the wrong date.

"We quickly realised the date should be June 3 and are now contacting all the people who have called us to assure them the date is June 3."

Huddersfield Tourist Information Centre, in Albion Street, opened early to allow people to buy their tickets before going to work.

Karen Marsden, 31, from Lindley, and her four-month-old baby Luke were the first to buy a ticket for the concert.

The delighted fan said: "I have been a big fan of Elton since I was a child. I am delighted that I have been able to get such great seats. Luke is not coming but he is already enjoying listening to Elton."

Chris Marsden, marketing officer for Kirklees Council said he expected the sales to be steady.

Tickets cost £75, £60, £40, and £35 and the concert will be the first all-seater at the stadium.

Holmfirth Tourist Information Centre is also selling tickets, and they can also be purchased by calling 01484 223200 or 01484 222444.
