TWO Golcar scout leaders have retired after more than 47 years of service between them.

Members of Golcar Scout Group held a party to celebrate the retirement of cub scout leader Jackie Morris and assistant cub scout leader Carol Ditchfield.

Jackie, of Station Road, Golcar, became involved with the group 21 years ago and has been a leader for the last 19 years.

She said: "I shall miss the kids because that's what it is all about.

"I hope to continue doing things for the scouts but in more of a back seat role."

Carol, who lives in Marsden, has been involved with the cub Scouts in Huddersfield for 26 years.

She joined the Golcar group six years ago after years spent with the Marsden group.

The pair were presented with gifts and flowers for their long years of service at a party at Manor Road Community Centre, Golcar, where the group meets.
