Hundreds of people – many in fancy dress –took part in the Farnley Tyas Fun Run yesterday .

Event organiser Samantha Kaye, 38, decided to get the three-mile run off the ground four years ago in a bid to do something for the community – namely raise funds for Kirkwood Hospice in Dalton.

From 9.45am roads throughout Farnley Tyas were closed as the fundraising funseekers hit the road.

Kate Leadbeater, a fundraiser for the hospice dressed up as Minnie Mouse while Samantha got into her Zippy costume.

Fundraising was as generous as ever with Kate’s sponsor money alone raising more than £500.

The event was expected to raise thousands of pounds.
