A STUDENT is helping give a voice to his peers in the Kirklees Youth Council.

Fartown High School student Teejay Cambell has been elected following a day of workshops at Huddersfield University.

Teejay prepared a manifesto outlining the issues which he felt were important to him and these were distributed with voting slips to all secondary schools in Kirklees.

The vote took place in schools in mid October and the results day was October 14.

Teejay said: “I am delighted to have been elected. I have already attended my first council meeting where various issues which affect young people have been discussed. I am really looking forward to being able to represent my peers during the forthcoming year.”
