Police have sealed off two streets in Fartown after reports of an incident with a gun.
A vehicle is on its side after crashing in Ripon Avenue.
And 100 yards away on the other side of Bradford Road, police have sealed off a long stretch of Dewhurst Road.
An alleyway is also sealed off.
It leads from Dewhurst Road into Blackhouse Road.
The incident is thought to have started some time after 3pm and police said there were reports of a gun being involved, although there has been no confirmation as yet.
It is not known if anyone was hurt when the 4 x 4 vehicle crashed and overturned.
A large number of police officers have been sent to the scene.
