A FATHER and son team have soared up the rankings again after the latest stage in the gruelling Paris-Dakar Rally.
Paul Round, 46, from Lower Cumberworth, and Mark, 26, of Emley, are 42nd position in the car category. They rose 11 places after finishing an impressive 37th in the latest stage in Mauritania.
The two are taking part in the rally for the sixth time in a car they built themselves.
At least 100 racers in the rally were stopped at Mauritania's border yesterday by armed guards demanding £35 for them to pass.
It was not immediately clear how much time was lost in the transactions. Race organisers are trying to find out if other racers were forced to pay.
