HUNDREDS enjoyed the spirit of Christmas - thanks to The Examiner.

They packed into Huddersfield Town Hall yesterday for the newspaper's annual Christmas Concert and were treated to a feast of music and voices.

They also did their bit for charity. The proceeds of a raffle at the concert were added to money raised throughout the year by Examiner Travel holidays and trips and a cheque for £3,642.05 was presented to the Forget Me Not Trust, a charity which plans to open a children's hospice in the area.

Examiner managing director Graham Morgan compered the concert.

There were items from the U3A Choir, conducted by Eric Cooper and Stephen Byrne, the Huddersfield Music Centre Concert Band, conducted by Pat France, and the Scissett Middle School Children's Choir, conducted by Judith Simm.

George Marsden was the organist and other accompanists were Margaret Dutton, Corinne Lord and Jonathan Newcombe.
