AT JUST six months old, Molly the kitten has already used up one of her nine lives.

But thanks to new owner Kirkburton mum-of-three Nyissa Taylor and a local vet, she now has a brighter future after undergoing a three-hour operation to fix her fractured pelvis and hip.

Nyissa, 30, said: “She kept coming into our garden and I started feeding her bits as she was so skinny and limping and we thought she would just go home.

“But when she came back I let her in the house and we contacted the PDSA, but they needed me to take her to Bradford and I had to take the kids to school and there were no other appointments.”

Fortunately she then contacted Anrich vets in Huddersfield who arranged for Molly to be transferred to their sister practice in Wigan for emergency surgery.

Veterinary nurse at Anrich vets Amy Gunson said: “Yorkshire Cat Rescue came forward and paid £130 and we have covered the remainder, which is over £1,000.

“She has had hip surgery and is doing really well.

“She would have had a limp and been suffering if she had not had the surgery.

“It is possible the injury was caused by being hit by a car or being trapped somewhere.”

Nyissa added: “We have now paid Yorkshire Cat Rescue a £60 adoption fee and she is now part of our family.”

Molly was collected by her new owners Nyissa and her twin-boys Joseph and Oscar, seven, and three-year-old Harry.
