A famous feline needs to start watching her waistline.

Felix the Huddersfield Station Cat has been put on a strict DIET after too many people have been giving her treats.

Following vets’ advice, station staff have now asked members of the public to stop feeding her.

The TransPennine Express team have put Felix’s new found love handles down to her spell in the limelight, as people are visiting the station to see her and bring her favourite snacks.

The staff added that they, too, have been partial to feeding Felix, as they use treats to lure her onto the platform when visitors pop by.

A team member said: “It seems that she has put on a little weight. It must be the pressures of stardom.

“So we at the station would kindly like to ask that people do not feed her treats for the time being.

“She is currently on a strict diet and we care greatly about our little friend’s health.

“We must make you aware that it may be more difficult to get her to make an appearance as we can no longer lure her with her favourite treats.

“We at the station would like to thank you all for your lovely gifts and kind words.”

But there is hope that Felix will soon shed the pounds, as she undertakes a 5km challenge for sick children’s Lego charity Fairy Bricks.

The puss is being tracked as she takes on the distance during her daily routines of keeping the station platforms pest and pigeon-free.

Felix has smashed her original £1,000 target and the fundraising total now stands at more than £5,000.

That’s more than a pound for every metre undertaken by her paws.

A spokesman for Felix added: “We will be keeping a much closer eye on her diet from now on.

“I think we are all guilty of sneaking her treats at the station.”
