ORGANISERS of a charity plant sale targeted by thieves have been overwhelmed by the response.

Saturday’s Examiner reported how signs for a plant sale for Kirkwood Hospice had been damaged and dumped in a ditch in Kirkheaton.

Organiser Howard Jennings saw a drop in trade as people thought they were closed.

But after our story they were inundated with well-wishers bringing plants and cuttings along.

And they’re now willing to give them to any charity open days.

Howard said: “We’ve now got too many!”

Mr Jennings, of Castle Hill Nurseries herb and vegetable business, said charities can contact him on 01484 604 857.
