A GOLCAR landlord is looking for local bands to play at a music festival in France.

Gerry Atkins has been asked to find British bands to perform at the Rochechouart Music Festival next year.

Mr Atkins, landlord of the Wheel Inn, said: “I was on holiday in France and got talking to someone and they knew I had been involved in helping at a Battle of the Bands event so they asked if I could help them with a music festival they are having.

“They want me to find a number of bands from this area to play at the festival, which really is a great opportunity for any musicians and bands out there.”

The French festival will be held in the town in the south west of France next September and will feature 12 to 15 acts over the weekend.

Mr Atkins said: “The French love English music, they love the Beatles and early Rock ’n’ Roll music.

“When you watch the music channels in France 80% is English music – they can’t get enough of it and they will loved this festival if we can get some good acts together.”

Mr Atkins is jetting out to France next week to start planning with local organisers and he is taking local band The Sellouts with him to showcase British music.

Organisers will arrange free accommodation and transport to the French town for the duration of the festival for any acts taking part.

If you are in a band and would like to play at the Rochechouart Music Festival, send a demo and information to Gerry Atkins at the Wheel Inn, 84 James Street, Golcar, Huddersfield, HD7 4HT.
