SHOPS in Lindley will be getting into the Christmas spirit next week by raising money for charity.
For several years, Lindley shopkeepers have been joining forces to host special late-night Christmas shopping events in early December.
This year they will be holding an event on Tuesday for the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust.
The trust is raising cash to build a children's hospice for Kirklees and Calderdale.
On Tuesday, shopkeepers will be wearing Victorian-style costumes to create a traditional Christmas atmosphere.
Festive food, including mulled wine and mince pies, will be on offer at the shops.
Children will be well catered for, with a Santa's grotto, a treasure hunt and a visit from author Ceri Wormald at the Children's Book Shop.
There will also be carol singing around a Christmas tree, given for the event by Armitage's Garden Centre.
The event has been co-ordinated by Jellybeans children's shoe shop, Mandy Barwick of the trust, and Lisa Silver, from the Examiner's advertising department.
The Examiner is giving the trust a fifth of the revenue made from advertisements placed round the event by shops.
