HUDDERSFIELD’S shops are all dressed up for Christmas – and shoppers are being asked to vote for their favourite festive window.

The popular Best Dressed Window competition is now under way and shops are battling it out to ensure that they have the top display.

The contest, now in its third year, sees entrants decorating their windows with festive scenes and twinkly Christmas decorations.

Shoppers can vote for their favourite stores and a panel of judges, including Kirklees Mayor Clr Jean Calvert, will be inspecting them closely to award points in subjects such as overall visual impact, creativity and effort.

The winning store will receive £100 for the charity of its choice and everyone who votes will be entered into a prize draw.

Town centre manager Cathy Burger said businesses in the town really pull out all the stops to make Christmas that extra bit magical for shoppers.

She added: “Everyone makes a real effort with this competition and helps to make Huddersfield a wonderful place to shop at Christmas.”

Last year’s winner, with a dazzling festive display, was hats and accessories shop Cinderella at Le Bonnet on Station Street.

Shoppers can vote for their favourite displays at participating stores until December 9.
