The tunes of top solo musicians delighted audiences during the fifth day of the Mrs Sunderland Festival

The three overall winners in the stringed, woodwind and piano classes, violinist Jordan Earnshaw, pianist Adam Repa and flutist Lydia Wyatt came together to compete in the instrumentalists challenge.

And it was pianist Adam Repa who stole the show winning the Business and Professional Women’s Trophy, a Mrs Sunderland Medal and a bursary of £100.

Wednesday at the festival saw more than 100 children and young adults with special needs take to the concert hall stage to demonstrate their singing and dancing prowess.

Pupils from Castle Hill School, Longley School and Ravenscliffe High School all took part in the jamboree, in which they performed a selection of high-energy routines.

They then all came together for a vibrant finale rendition of Reach for the Sky.
