A MAN is seriously ill in hospital after a pub fight.

The 30-year-old victim was knocked to the floor and assaulted.

The attack happened at the Union Rooms pub on Hick Lane in Batley at 9.30pm on Saturday.

He was taken to Dewsbury District Hospital and then transferred to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield where his condition today was said to be "serious".

Police have not revealed any more details about his injuries.

A police spokesman said: "The pub was full at the time and we would urge anyone who saw this incident to come forward."

The attacker is white, around 5ft 10ins tall and wore a beige shirt.
