A HUDDERSFIELD student has reached the final heats in a bid for a place in a reality TV series.

Rachel Moon, of Croftlands, Newsome, has alr- eady beaten thousands of hopefuls.

The 18-year-old stands to win £10,000 if she is picked and goes on to win Trouble TV's Cruel Holiday programme. Contestants will spend four weeks together on holiday, where they will be subjected to harrowing challenges.

Rachel is among the last 20 candidates, from which10 will be selected to appear on Cruel Holiday.

Viewers are being asked to make their pick via the cable and satellite station's website.

Rachel, who has just sat A-levels at Greenhead College, appealed for Huddersfield people to vote her in.

She said: "I think it will be a bit of a laugh. My friends all think it's really good."

The series is hosted by former Pop Idol Hayley Evetts, who will act as Cruel Holiday rep.

Viewers will have complete control over who stays, who goes, what punishment they administer and who has to endure them.

Contestants are not allowed to leave or have any contact with the outside world except for one weekly phone call and organised webchats on the internet.

The challenges will get harder every week and the tougher the contestants are the more money they will win.

Rachel soon hopes to go to Herriot-Watt University, in Scotland, to study business and economics.
