A MAN must attend a domestic violence programme after injuring his partner in a hammer attack.
Huddersfield magistrates heard how Anthony Johnson, 45, of Longfield Close, Dalton, broke into Michelle Goldsmith’s flat in Newsome.
He smashed glass in the back door with a hammer. He went into the flat and smashed a DVD player and TV.
He pushed her away after she tried to grab the weapon. As Johnson tried to smash the stereo system he broke Ms Goldsmith’s ankle with the hammer.
Johnson said Ms Goldsmith had damaged his TV the day before.
In a statement Ms Goldsmith said she was suffering stress and not sleeping. Contact with her two daughters had been limited because of her injuries.
Earlier Johnson pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm and trespass with intent to do damage.
Magistrates fined him £375 and ordered him to attend a domestic violence programme as part of a two-year community order.
