WEST Yorkshire Fire Authority wants the Government to stump up the cash to cover a £1.2m hole in its finances.
Chairman Clr Robert Light said: "This year's budget was set on assurances that central Government would help to fund some of the massive structural changes going on in the service.
"Progress is well under way.
"We've kept our part of the bargain. Now it's time for ministers to keep theirs."
He said Fire Minister Nick Raynsford had not given any guarantees.
Clr Light added: "It's not fair to expect council tax payers to pick up the pieces."
