A WAGON towing crushed up cars burst into flames on the M62 causing hours of queues.

The driver of the lorry pulled over close to Hartshead Moor services after suffering a flat tyre.

He then noticed his load was on fire.

Two lanes of the eastbound motorway were cordoned off during the incident at about 2.30pm yesterday.

Firefighters from Rastrick, Cleckheaton and Batley spent several hours

tackling the fire.

The incident caused queues back towards Huddersfield well in to the rush hour period.

No one was injured.
