A FORTY stone woman was helped out of her bedroom last night by a specialist fire service team so she could receive hospital treatment.

Watch Commander Richard Hodgson of Cleckheaton Fire Station said a flexible stretcher and ropes were used by his team to remove the lady from an upstairs room at 8pm in Crosland Moor.

He said: "Basically we took the lady from the bedroom and lowered her down the steps and carried her out to the ambulance for a waiting specialist Heart team.

"We are building up experience of this as it's becoming more and more common."
