A CALENDAR featuring half-naked firefighters has given a charity a huge lift.

The firefighters stripped off to the waist and raised £13,766 for the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust. The `models' were all frontline firefighters with Red Watch at Bradford Fire Station.

The charity, founded by Ainley Top mother Linda Senior, is raising money to build a children's hospice in Kirklees or Calderdale.

She said: "It was a phenomenal amount.

"We think it is the biggest cheque we have received from a single fundraising project.

"The firefighters did a magnificent job with the calendar and a lot of sponsors generously rallied round to help.

"The calendar was all very tastefully done, and each photograph featured a fire safety message."

All the photos were taken by Leading Firefighter Paul Macnamara, who serves with Red Watch.

He said: "Most fire stations have a tradition of helping to raise money for charity.

"When Linda approached us we wanted to help.

"We were delighted it raised so much."

About 3,000 of the calendars - printed free by Leeds firm Polestar - were sold.
