THIS is the man accused of a firework attack on a Yorkshire terrier in Linthwaite.

Steven Mark Robinson, 19, appeared at Huddersfield Magistrates' Court, for the first time yesterday.

Robinson, of Pennine Gardens in Linthwaite, was charged with outraging public decency.

The charge accuses him on "behaving in a manner which was disgusting in character by placing fireworks on a dog".

He did not enter a formal plea, but elected to have his case heard at the Crown Court.

The offence is said to have happened on October 27 on Gilroyd Lane in Linthwaite and involved a Yorkshire Terrier called Emmie.

The court heard that a post-mortem confirmed Emmie died as a result of a road accident and there was no indication of damage caused to her by fireworks.

Robinson was granted unconditional bail and will return to Huddersfield Magistrates Court on February 17.
