LONG-SERVING employees of a Huddersfield firm have been rewarded for their loyalty.

Martin Shaw, chairman of pickles producer Shaw's of Huddersfield Ltd, presented awards to Phyllis Kaye, Trevor Clarkson and Matthew Shaw - one of the fifth generation of the family to join the business.

He presented an engraved decanter to Mrs Kaye and engraved clocks set in slate to Mr Clarkson and Mr Shaw.

Mrs Kaye, who was born in Malta, has notched up 40 years with the Aspley company, which she joined in 1965 as a packer.

She later became supervisor of the onion preparation room.

Following the sale of the manufacturing part of the business in 1994, Mrs Kaye, who lives at Dalton, worked as office cleaner for the company's developing Shaw Park Business Centre.

Mr Clarkson, also of Dalton, has 25 years' service with the firm, which he joined in 1980 as an evening worker in charge of preparing ingredients for piccalilli.

Golcar man Mr Shaw, who also has 25 years with the firm, is a director of the company with responsibilities for production, warehousing and despatch.
