KIRKLEES Council will run a festival of fitness events in May to encourage Huddersfield people to get active.
First Foot Forward, run through the council's Active for Life project, is a nine-day programme of walks, cycle rides and conservation activities for fitness beginners.
Most of the activities will last only 30 minutes and all walks and cycle rides are on flat ground.
Each of the activities - which will run from May 1 to May 9 - will be followed by a visit to a cafe so that participants can get to know each other.
Each activity will have a leader from Active for Life, who can cancel or amend the event depending on the weather.
People will be allowed to take part in the event only if they are wearing suitable outdoor clothes.
Anyone bringing a dog on a walking event should keep it on a short lead.
For cycling events, people must bring their own bicycles and ensure they are in working order.
A helmet must be worn and a waterproof jacket and spare inner tube should be brought along.
For conservation tasks, people should wear gloves and old clothing.
