FIVE fire engines were called out last night to put out a blaze at a derelict industrial site - Monoplas in Badger Lane, Hipperholme.
Nigel Dodd, watch manager at Brighouse Fire Station, said appliances raced to the scene from as far away as Illingworth, Elland and two from Odsal.
He said: "One of the single derelict units had some plastics still in storage and had been ignited by unknown sources."
Because of access problems the fire took hours to put out. Having received the alert at 6.35pm the fire was finally extinguished at 11.45pm.
