New arrival Courtney Gorog makes it five generations of females for one Huddersfield family.

Courtney was the best Christmas present possible for mum Joanna and is being doted on by grandma Andrea Gorog, great grandma Mavis Cartledge and great great grandma Bessie Wilson.

Little Courtney has been the centre of attention following her birth at Calderdale Royal Hospital on December 14.

“She’s a very contented baby,” said Andrea, 51, of Almondbury, who works as an activities co-ordinator for Bupa at Cleveland House nursing home in Edgerton and is also an auxiliary nurse at Kirkwood Hospice, Dalton.

Joanna, 30, also of Almondbury, is already a full-time mum to sons Caine, six, and five-year-old Kerrin. Joanna also has a brother, Curt, 27.

Mavis, 68, who lives at Lindley, works as a cleaner at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and as a volunteer at Kirkwood Hospice. Bessie, 86, who also lives at Almondbury, enjoys outings for meals.

Courtney’s arrival meant it was an extra special festive season for the family.

“It was a very busy Christmas,” said Andrea. “Although I was working on Christmas Day, we had a big family get-together on Boxing Day.”

She added: “Joanna is delighted because now she has a daughter. The boys are spoiling Courtney rotten and won’t leave her alone!”
