Pupils kicked-off their fundraising in sporting style.

The children of Fixby Junior and Infant School joined forces with Huddersfield Town FC for a World Cup diversity day.

Proceeds raised at the sporting event were split between Town’s schools partnership and the school, which is donating it to Street Child World Cup, a campaign associated with Save the Children that raises awareness of global issues affecting children.

Every pupil in the school got involved in challenges from running and jumping to throwing, while Kirklees Music School held Samba workshops, supported by Pennine Sports Partnership.

Classroom work also focused on the charity, as Kathy Todd, from Fixby JI School, said: “Time in classrooms will be spent on the Street Child World Cup project ‘I am Somebody’ - every child is important, no matter where they were born or the circumstances they find themselves in.

“The activities will help children to understand this message and begin to explore the connections between them and the rest of the world.”

The finale was a grand celebration assembly with parents involved.
